HOUJICHA Roasted Green Tea Powder (70g)
This Houjicha Powder has been grown and processed in Kyoto, Japan.
Houjicha is roasted Japanese green tea and emerged early in the 20th century in Kyoto, when tea merchants began roasting leaves over charcoal.
The roasting process has a decaffeinating effect on the leaves, making Houjicha a tasty low-caffeine alternative for tea enthusiasts.
The roasting process also changes the flavour of the tea. With a nutty taste, Houjicha is a unique tea in that it has a “roast” flavour that no other tea has. Interestingly enough, this flavour makes Houjicha taste quite a bit like freshly roasted coffee.
Our Houjicha is made from Sencha tea leaves, cut after it's first harvest.
It has a lovely aromatic flavour and makes a very pleasant tasting experience.
This 70g bag of Houjicha comes in Eco-friendly Home Compostable Packaging* (includes compostable label**)
To best consume this tea, add 1/2 teaspoon (or more to taste) to the Tea Shaker then fill with approx 1/2 cup hot water (not boiling - optimum temperature is under 80 degrees Celsius).
You can then top up with milk to create a tasty Latte.
Another way to enjoy is to use heated warm milk only or just enjoy with hot water, the options are many!
Ps: If you don’t own our Tea Shaker, simply push the Houjicha Powder through a sieve into a jar or bottle with lid and simply shake once milk and/or water is added.
You can also use it in baking, smoothies, bliss balls, ice-cream and more! Houjicha works with both sweet and savoury dishes.
