The story behind Matcha Yu Tea - blending a love of Japan and tea
Share
This is the story of how I fell in love with Japan (and Matcha).
Almost 10 years ago, I made a decision that would change my life forever. I decided to pack my bags, hop on a plane and experience daily life in Kyoto, a magical ancient city of Japan.
Japan was a place I had been fascinated by ever since 13 year old me took my first Japanese class at high school.
Since then I had travelled to Japan for holidays but something deep down was telling me to take a leap of faith and experience living there once and for all.
While living in Kyoto I spent my time soaking up as much of the beautiful culture as possible.
My days were filled with visiting temples and gardens, trying delicious Japanese cuisine, relaxing in hot springs, speaking Japanese with the locals and of course experiencing Matcha Green Tea.
Matcha has been drunk in Japan for centuries and is widely enjoyed for its taste and health benefits. It also is the tea used in Tea Ceremony so it has special significance in Japanese culture.
The ritual of preparing and serving Japanese Green Tea to enjoy is a refreshing break from the fast past of everyday life.
Making time to slow down and drink tea is one of life’s simple pleasures.
Drinking my daily cup of Matcha instantly transports me to a time and place that will forever have a piece of my heart.
It is my absolute joy and privilege to offer this authentic taste of Japan to you.
