Offering Freshly Sourced Japanese Matcha since 2017
Taste Matcha the way Japan intended — vibrant, smooth, and freshly milled.

Hi, I’m Erin 👋 founder of Matcha Yu Tea and self confessed Japanophile (lover of all things Japanese!)
My love for Matcha began back when I was living in Kyoto, Japan in 2010 when i was introduced to it's calming energy and smooth taste.
I felt so much better drinking Matcha over coffee. It provided me with a steady clean energy that didn't come with any headaches, crash or jitters.
As I learned more about Matcha's key place in the tea culture of Japan, I was hooked!
Upon returning to Australia I found it challenging to find high quality Matcha just like I had tried in Japan.
That's why I decided to source and import myself, bringing the "Taste of Japan in a Cup" to Australia.
Why Matcha Yu Tea tastes different

Why Drink Matcha?
Matcha gives you a clean and smooth energy boost that sustains you far longer than coffee can.
This is thanks to its caffeine and L-theanine (amino acid) properties that work hand in hand to create a calm zen energy.
Matcha is antioxidant rich, containing a concentrated dose at least 3 times more than a regular cup of green tea.

FAQ
Matcha is green tea leaves that have been ground down into a fine powder. In the week's prior to tea harvest, shade covering is applied over the tea plants to block sunlight. Chlorophyll and antioxidant content increases. Once ready for picking, the tea leaves are quickly steamed and air dried to reduce oxidising and remove moisture then finally ground down into a fine powder
It's not that tricky! The key tip is to use something that will effectively suspend/dissolve the Matcha powder in water. To prepare it:
- Add ½–1 teaspoon of Matcha to a bowl or cup.
- Pour in around 30ml of hot water (around 70–80°C).
- Whisk briskly in a zig-zag (M or W shape) until frothy and smooth using a bamboo or electric whisk.
- Top up with more hot water or your favourite milk (we recommend around 100ml)
Yes! Unlike regular green tea, where you steep and discard the leaves, matcha is made from the whole ground leaf. This means you get up to 10x more antioxidants, including catechins like EGCG, making it a supercharged, nutrient-rich drink. 🌱
