What are thd health benefits of drinking Matcha?

The health benefits of drinking antioxidant-rich Matcha Green Tea are many.

    Matcha Health Benefits

    It provides:

    • a natural energy boost which keeps you going all day
    • feelings of calm, keeping anxious thoughts & stress away
    • improved focus and concentration
    • detoxifying which helps fight free radicals and effects of ageing
    • help with a healthy immune system
    • boosted metabolism and help with weight loss

Let's break it down in a little more detail below so you can see how Matcha can transform your mind and body for the better.

    PROVIDES NATURAL ENERGY

Coffee vs Matcha Caffeine Energy Levels Graphic

    • Matcha does contain caffeine which provides energy, but only 1/3 of the amount found in coffee. Matcha provides a slow steady release of caffeine into the blood stream, sustaining you over several hours. This is the key difference between Matcha and Coffee as the latter gives a sharp spike of energy but then drops quite suddenly, causing you to crave more. Matcha is a much more effective way of getting the energy you need without the nasty side effects or cravings of Coffee.

      CALMING & REDUCES ANXIETY

      L-theanine and Serotonin and Dopamine

      • Matcha contains an amazing amino acid known as L-theanine that positively affects alpha waves in the brain, helping you feel relaxed and reduces feelings of anxiety or stress. Matcha also increases dopamine and serotonin levels which positively improves your mood, making you feel happy.

      IMPROVES FOCUS & CONCENTRATION

      L-theanine & Caffeine Graphic

      • The combination of caffeine and L-theanine found in Matcha has been shown to improve memory retention and help with faster reaction time. Matcha helps you feel more productive and keeps you focused and concentrate on the task at hand.

      DETOXIFYING & ANTI AGEING

Matcha Detoxifies and is Anti Ageing

      • In the week's leading up to tea harvest the plants that become Matcha get covered in shade to block sunlight and increase chlorophyll production. Chlorophyll can help improve liver function, which can help increase your body’s ability to flush out toxins. Chlorophyll has also been shown to help with the excretion of heavy metals, dioxins, and other persistent chemicals.
      • Matcha also contains Catechins, which are potent cancer-fighters counteracting the effect of pollutants, chemicals, UV rays, and radiation.
      • Matcha contains the vitamins A, C, K and B complex that help with renewal of skin cells. This helps reduce the the signs of premature ageing and promotion of supple and smoother skin.

      HELPS BOOST IMMUNITY

      Matcha boots immunity

      • Matcha contains one of the highest natural sources of antioxidants, higher than blueberries, chia seeds and other superfoods you may be familiar with. The antioxidants help fight free radicals in the system to keep your immune system fighting fit and healthy.
      • Matcha is the best natural source of the plant based catechin EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) which helps the body produce T-cells that fight pathogen and virus. Read more about it here

BOOSTS METABOLISM & MAY AID IN WEIGHT LOSS

Matcha helps with weight loss increases metabolism graphic

      • That wonderful EGCG plant compound helps here too! In conjunction with caffeine found in Matcha it can assist with boosting metabolism which in turn increases your body's ability to burn calories.
      • Matcha also helps your body absorb and use the fat in your body as an energy source when working out.

How do I make a Matcha latte?

Making a cup of Matcha has never been easier, especially when using our convenient Matcha Shaker.

How to Make A Matcha Latte Easily Without A Bamboo Whisk
If you don't own our Matcha Shaker simply follow these steps instead to make a Matcha Latte:
      1. Push 1 teaspoon (approx. 2 grams) of Matcha Powder through a sieve into your cup. NOTE: if you want a stronger flavour we recommending adding up to 2 Teaspoons of Matcha
      2. Pour in around 30ml of hot water (no hotter than 80 degrees), just enough to cover the Matcha Powder.
      3. Blend the Matcha and Water by mixing with a Bamboo whisk / Matcha Shaker or Electric Whisk to blend to get a better result)
      4. Add 100ml milk to the dissolved Matcha & Water Mix
      5. Add 1 teaspoon of sweetener (we recommend Maple Syrup) to taste (optional)
      6. Larger serve? Just double the quantity of Matcha to 4 grams (2 metric teaspoons) and 200ml milk. Keep the water at 30ml so it doesn’t dilute.

How should I store my Matcha?

We recommend storing Matcha in the fridge in a well sealed, air tight container. Either in the pouch you receive the tea in or transfer it to a Storage Jar

🌿 Choosing Between Premium & Everyday

      Growing Regions

Everyday and Premium Matcha - Kagoshima, Kyushu.

Grown near the iconic Sakurajima volcano, Kagoshima’s tea fields thrive in nutrient-rich volcanic soil. This unique terroir gives the matcha its vibrant green colour, smooth umami flavour, and naturally sweet, full-bodied character.

      What is a cultivar?

A cultivar is a specific cultivated variety of the tea plant. Different cultivars express distinct characteristics in flavour, aroma and colour — even when grown in the same region.

Just as grape varieties influence the taste of wine, tea cultivars shape the character of matcha.

      The Cultivars We Use

      Tsuyuhikari (つゆひかり)

Meaning “dew light,” Tsuyuhikari is known for its bright, refreshing profile with gentle lingering umami. It produces a smooth, lively matcha well suited to daily drinking and milk-based preparations.

      Okumidori (奥緑)

Translating to “deep green,” Okumidori is highly regarded for its vibrant colour and mellow, creamy character. It delivers deeper umami, a fuller body and minimal bitterness — ideal for traditional preparation and drinking straight.

What does Ceremonial grade Matcha mean?

“Ceremonial grade” is a commonly used term in the tea industry to describe matcha intended for drinking straight rather than for culinary use.

While there is no official grading system, this designation typically refers to first-harvest tea with smoothness, balance and minimal bitterness.

      Is your Matcha Organic?

Organic certification applies at different stages of the supply chain.

Our Premium Matcha is made from tea grown on JAS-certified organic farms in Japan. These farms follow strict organic standards set by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, including the prohibition of synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilisers.

Once imported and packaged in Australia, the finished product itself is not certified under the JAS system.

Australia recognises equivalency under the JAS organic standard.

Our Everyday Matcha is grown using standard Japanese farming practices and is not organic-certified.

Why isn’t the JAS Organic logo shown on Premium Matcha?

The JAS Organic logo can only be displayed on products that are packed within a JAS-certified processing facility.

While our Premium Matcha is made from tea grown on JAS-certified organic farms and processed in certified facilities in Japan, we package our matcha in Australia. For this reason, we describe the organic certification at origin rather than using the official JAS logo.

We believe in full transparency about our sourcing.

Why is our Premium Matcha more expensive?

      Our Premium Matcha is:

      • Single cultivar (Okumidori)
      • First-harvest
      • Made from tea grown on JAS-certified organic farms
      • Stone-milled in Japan
      • Multi Award-winning

It is crafted specifically for traditional preparation and drinking straight.

Can I drink Premium Matcha as a latte?

You can — however, its nuanced flavour profile is best appreciated on its own. If you prefer matcha with milk, our Everyday Matcha is designed to shine beautifully in lattes.
