How to Make Matcha

Making a cup of Matcha has never been easier, especially when using our convenient Matcha Shaker.  There are two main ways to make Matcha which are:  

1. Modern Style Matcha Latte (with Milk)

2. Traditional Style Matcha (With Water)

    HOW TO MAKE A MODERN STYLE MATCHA LATTE

    Matcha Latte
     
    INGREDIENTS:
    1/2 teaspoon (2 grams) of Matcha Powder (2 heaped bamboo scoops)
    1 teaspoon of Honey / Maple Syrup
    1/4 cup hot water (no hotter than 80c)
    1 cup of milk of your choice 
    METHOD:
    1. Push Matcha through a sieve into a cup or Matcha Shaker to make powder extra fine.
    2. Add water to Matcha and blend with a bamboo whisk or use Matcha Shaker to dissolve the powder.
    3. Heat Milk on the stove (For an Iced Latte - used chilled milk) 
    4. Add Sweetener (optional)
    5. Whisk or use a Matcha shaker to combine once more
    6. Pour into a cup of your choice (For Iced, add in ice cubes) 
    7. Top with extra Matcha powder if desired 
    Tea Shaker
      If you don't own our Matcha Shaker simply follow these steps instead to make a cup of Matcha:
      1. Push the Matcha Powder through a sieve into your cup 
      2. Pour in around 1/2 cup of hot water (no hotter than 80 degrees)
      3. Blend the Matcha and liquid by mixing with a spoon vigorously (Tip - you can also use a handheld milk frother or bamboo whisk to blend) 
      4. Top up with Hot water (or frothed milk if you're making a Latte)  and enjoy. 

      HOW TO MAKE A TRADITIONAL STYLE MATCHA

      Japanese Matcha Green Tea in Chawan

      1. Take 2 bamboo tea scoops (around 1/2 teaspoon) of Matcha and place into the included tea sieve which sits on top of the Matcha Shaker (with lid removed).
      2. Push the Matcha through the tea sieve into the shaker. This ensures the Matcha powder is nice and fine with no lumps.
      3. Remove the tea sieve and fill the shaker with around 120 ml (1/2 cup) of water or milk and close the cap tightly (optimum temperature is 80 degrees).
      4. Shake the Matcha Shaker about 10-20 times from up to down. Make sure the cap, silicon ring and bottle are tightly shut.
      5. Pour the Matcha into a cup or bowl to enjoy.
